Parent Coaching:

a short term approach to getting parents help
with specific issues involving their children

From time to time, lots of parents could benefit from professional counsel to help them deal with situations involving their children. These are typically good parents, conscientious moms and/or dads who know they could use some expert guidance that's on-target and readily available to them. Mom and Dad (or a single parent) recognize that they have reached a point where they have tried everything they can think of, read the latest books and articles, and nothing seems to be working.

How does Parent Coaching work?
Parent coaching is a short-term approach to getting parents help with specific issues involving their children. Parents are matched with one of Mariposa's doctorally prepared parent coaches who guides them toward solutions by:

  • Getting to the heart of the child's problem
  • Teaching strategies to bring about meaningful, lasting change in the child's behavior
  • Improving the relationship to Mom and Dad, teachers and schoolmates, and siblings

Where do the sessions take place?
After a 90 minute face-to-face visit between parents and coach including an assessment and discussion, phone sessions are scheduled weekly.
