Description: In this course, participants will learn Mariposa’s social-emotional learning method to reduce stress and build resilience in both children and adults.
Module 1:
Explains the dynamics of power struggles and tension in relationships with children, the role of stress on the brain and learning, the limitations of traditional discipline approaches, and how emotional resilience develops.
Modules 2-7:
Teach Mariposa’s method for helping adults build emotional resilience in children, reduce their stress, and address challenging behaviors. Participants will learn how to:
- Understand and communicate children’s feelings and perspectives to strengthen connections, mitigate stress, and build self-awareness.
- Authentically express your feelings and needs in ways that are more likely to be heard, strengthening connections and reducing your stress.
- Collaborate with children to address problems and meet their needs, your needs, and the needs of other children.
- Reinforce positive behaviors in ways that increase self-motivation, promote engagement, and foster a culturally diverse community.
- Establish order and control that leads to increased self-regulation and mitigates bias.
Final Module:
Provides an opportunity to integrate the skills learned throughout the course and explore strategies for sustaining and continuing the learning process.
